Learn about some of the various strategies that community-based organizations can preserve and provide affordable homes in perpetuity. The common component to these different affordability opportunities (resident-owned cooperatives, community land trusts, and non-profit community ownership) is that the land is owned by an organizational entity with a mission to preserve housing, and homes are owned by individuals who are stakeholders in the mission owned community. In NJ, there is a tremendous demand for limited grant and subsidy funds. In this workshop, you will hear about communities in New Jersey that utilize these preservation models. Learn how to incorporate these concepts within your organization, and find out how they can help answer many of New Jersey's unique challenges.
